Job Description

My client a leading successful organisation based in Morley is looking to appoint an interim Payroll Manager on an interim basis for three months based in Morley.

You will be responsible for;

  • Managing the Payroll Assistant, delegating duties and supporting development
  • Attend management meetings to present finance updates and other meetings as required
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, line management and supervision, annual performance reviews, staff development and training, as appropriate, to ensure an effective service is provided
  • Responsible for financial management and administration matters, including HMRC and pension payments, compliance and regulation
  • Provide an essential finance support service across the wider organisation
  • Be a business partner to budget holders by developing and reporting on KPI's and measures, through an understanding of finance related systems
  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring the efficient maintenance of the financial records
  • Responsibility for processing accurate monthly management accounts journals in accordance with budget formats
  • Monthly reconciliation of all payroll control accounts and reporting discrepancies
  • Ensure that high standards are met regarding the quality of data used across finance systems, data is accurate, reliable and therefore provides robust management information
  • Investigating variances with budget holders and analysing potential problems, making appropriate recommendations and advising on the impact
  • Reconciliation of control accounts, inter-company account and regular review of nominal ledger, aged debtors and aged creditors
  • Managing a team to ensure all transactional recording is processed, including but not limited to, daily cash postings and reconciliation of the bank account, recording of stock purchases, calculation of duty and freight costs, and recording and reconciliation of payment receipts.
  • Monitoring cash flow and inter account bank transfers
  • Maintain an accurate Fixed Asset register, ensuring accurate records to safeguard equipment and support the capital strategy and annual business plan
  • To monitor satisfaction, value for money and reassurance of finance and governance practice, through internal and external auditing
  • To take ownership of all relevant policies and procedures, ensuring that they are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated to colleagues
  • Ensure all financial statutory duties relating to HMRC and Companies House are complied with
  • To manage the purchase ledger and ensure supplier invoices are recorded, authorized, paid and the accounts reconciled each month, including overseas suppliers
  • To oversee the purchase ledger assistant, delegating duties and supporting development
  • To seek tenders and negotiate with suppliers to ensure a cost-effective service in accordance with the procurement policy
  • Advise the management team and colleagues on issues of pay, tax, national insurance, pension and other voluntary deductions
  • Interpretation of legislation and regulations to ensure correct advice is given
  • Research, identify and communicate the potential payroll implications to the Finance Director of existing and proposed legislation
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of the payroll; to ensure appropriate reconciliations performed and monies are remitted accurately and on time
  • Liaise with external agencies e.g. HM Revenue and Customs etc. to plan new initiatives, verify information held by the organisation in respect of employment, Tax, National Insurance and Pension schemes
  • Ensure monthly and annual returns are correct and on time

Essential criteria;

  • Must have a sound knowledge of running large payrolls
  • Manufacturing experience is desirable but not essential

Remuneration package:

  • Salary will depend on experience
  • £25,000 - £40,000
  • Interim for three months with a possibility of permanent
