Job Description

This is a newly created Financial Accountant/Systems role working for one of the leading businesses in Skipton.

The company is a highly successful market leader in their field, and after recently experiencing some significant growth, they are now looking to hire an experienced Financial Accountant to join their expanding finance team in Skipton.

This role would suit an individual who is experienced and interested in getting right down behind the numbers and into the upstream processes that generate them, with a view to validating them and proposing changes.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following key duties:

  • To assist in validation of system driven financial transactions to ensure they deliver the correct accounting throughout the process chain
  • To ensure that new process implementations within operational and finance teams deliver the correct accounting treatment
  • To drive and implement improvements to financial transactional processing to ensure more robust system data exports, better data controls, and improved correction processes
  • To confirm and validate financial reports used as basis for key business MI
  • To build relationships with key Operational Managers and Finance Business Partners that facilitate greater knowledge share on business data
  • To assist in preparing required financial reporting schedules and reporting packs
  • To assist in managing the monthly close processes including complex and judgmental accounting adjustments
  • To drive and implement improvements to the reporting processes to ensure faster and more controlled close events
  • To work closely with senior finance and business stakeholders on specific analysis or project work as necessary
  • To develop and mentor less experienced members of the team
  • To support the Financial Controller in all areas of the business as required
  • To prepare schedules for audits and other compliance requirements

The successful candidate will:

  • Be ACCA/CIMA/ACA Qualified or be qualified by experience - Essential
  • Have excellent financial modelling and report development skills - Essential
  • Be advanced excel (Pivot tables & Macros) - Essential
  • Have excellent relationship building skills - Essential
