Job Description

A brand new opportunity for a Finance Manager has arisen with a fast growing, forward thinking, marketing business based in Leeds City Centre.

This company has gone through some significant growth over the last 18 months, and as a result, they have restructured the finance department. The business is based within walking distance of the train station in fantastic plush offices.

Following the recent changes in finance, they are now looking to hire a Finance Manager to work as a number two to the Financial Controller, who will take on a hands on, varied role which will be responsible for billing, AP, VAT, assistance in the preparations of monthly management accounts for the Exec and Board, budgets and forecasts, and working with auditors on statutory and tax reporting.

The key duties of this role will include:

  • Assist with the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for Board and Exec team
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Group's accounting records and financial systems
  • Assist the financial controller with effective management of working capital
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans and continued monitoring & review of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances to the Exec team and Board
  • Ensure returns for Corporation tax, VAT and all other relevant compliance requirements are submitted
  • Responsibility for all journals and final GL balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts
  • Responsibility for the month end billing process and ensure the accurate revenue recognition of all contracts
  • Assist with development and monitoring of Internal Controls
  • Effectively manage, motivate and develop the Assistant Accountant
  • Assist with the management of relationships with auditors, tax advisers, banks and other parties as directed by the Financial Controller
  • Keep key stakeholders up to date on progress against key milestones
  • Be comfortable in making challenging and last minute decisions/amendments and driving things forward to conclusion

The successful candidate will:

  • Be ACCA/CIMA part/fully qualified - Essential
  • Have previous experience in a similar broad ranging Finance Manager role, ideally within an SME - Essential
  • Have previous experience of Sage - Desirable
  • Have excellent communication skills - Essential
