Job Description

A successful international services business based in Goole is looking to appoint a European Credit & Risk Manager, this is a newly created role to create your own stamp on things and take full ownership. This role will report to the Director, Credit Management & Collections, Manager.

This position is a key member of the leadership team who are responsible for driving continuous process and performance improvements for the European debtor's ledger which is in excess of 200M USD, from approximately 20,000 live customer accounts. The responsibilities include setting targets and monitoring individual key performance indicators and services against service level agreements and where necessary taking necessary measures to provide development within the team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deputies' for the Director, Credit & Collections as & when required
  • Remotely lead and support local resources who are responsible for local assessment and assignment of credit limits and risk categories
  • Implement and drive initiatives that will deliver the function goals & vision, including improved use of technology to facilitate better efficiencies and performance
  • Foster effective teamwork between the teams and the business
  • Identify, assess and inform management of internal and external issues that impact the performance
  • Active membership of the OTC leadership team
  • Take full and active ownership, providing subject matter expertise of ad hoc projects as & when required
  • Advocate of change, leading teams in an ever changing and demanding environment
  • Monitor and act upon authorisation requests, as per delegation of authority
  • Hold delegation of authority for credit limit and risk category assignment
  • Maintain and monitor the groups credit risk
  • Ensure the day to day activities and approvals conform to company policies and internal control procedures Provide local team, business and cross functional departments with direct point of escalation
  • Ensure all activities are performed, including reporting and business reviews in line with service level agreements and the month end timetable
  • Ensure regular meetings are diarised and performed with the team and business to review credit exposure and keep parties informed of initiatives, issues as well as progress
  • Relationship management of 3rd party credit/company information
  • Provide customer company/credit insight and recommendations that supports the debt collection process
  • Leadership and overall management of ongoing Customer Master Data cleanse activities
  • Management of audit and risk mitigation directly relating to the management of Credit Risk
  • Responsible for the Credit Risk Process re-engineering and continuous improvement, ensuring the maximum efficiencies are deployed
  • Responsible for Customer Data Governance and process re-engineering, and ongoing continuous improvements
  • Champion of new processes and efficiencies, working closely with the finance transformation teams as well as OTC team
  • Ensuring cross functional processes are harmonised, and segregation of duty is in place

Essential criteria:

  • 5+ year's Credit Risk Management or other relevant operational experience, ideally with a large international B2B corporation or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a leadership position, leading remote teams
    OTC Credit Risk Manager
  • European experience is ESSENTIAL
  • Experience with Oracle or SAP ERP
  • Experience with Accounts Receivable and Advanced Collections modules
  • Experience working with Financial Transformation Projects
  • Knowledge of Freight Forwarding industry or similar industry advantageous
  • Strong written and oral communication in English (other languages; German, French, Mandarin, Portuguese, a plus).
  • Qualified with Credit Professional body (equivalent of CICM)

Salary package:
